Welcome to my Art site, first of all I would like to introduce myself to you. I was born in The Netherlands in 1963 but as a child we emigrated to South Africa. At an early age I acquired a passion for animals and often we visited wildlife game reserves. Also because of the large property we had we were allowed to have various animals from rabbits to dogs , cats and horses. I did a 5 year art study which came to use later in my life as I first wanted to travel the world and meet people. You can very well say that I am a people’s person as I enjoy talking and specially watching people, what they do, how the stand, various poses and lets not forget facial expressions. Years later I now live in Friesland a beautiful part of Holland with lots of nature and water and now was the time and place to paint my so loved objects animals and nature.

I paint animals in a realism style hoping to convey to beauty of animals from pets to wildlife in it’s natural setting. Not only do I paint animals but I also paint pet-portraits, landscapes, wildlife and abstract paintings.

I am lucky to have a atelier (studio) at home where I have georgeous views of grassland, water and various kinds of birds. Attached to my studio I have a small gallery where visitors can view paintings or their painting in the making. I paint in the studio using reference photo’s that I get from the owners or that I make myself as it is very important to get the right angle, lighting, emotion and most important character.

I prefer to work primarily with acrylics because it affords me the control to accurately capture details and to effectively portray the individual character and personality of each animal or person. Acrylic is a vertile, fast drying paint and one can mix or get ready made beautiful bright colors.

Each of these animal paintings is a way for me to share my passion for nature and the environment with others. I strive to raise the viewers awareness of our environment and share with them the fragile and fleeting splendor of our natural resourses.
